Last December 16, Dalia Viskontienė and Rita Radžiūnaitė spent some time with the Montreal Lithuanian Choir, visiting with the singers and rehearsing part of the Song Festival repertoire with them. We began the evening by welcoming our guests from Toronto with snacks and eggnog. The mood was festive: everyone enjoyed the traditional “raguolis” cake that Dalia brought with her, and then the rehearsal began.
Our director, Aleksandras Stankevičius, led the choir. Dalia accompanied us on the piano and explained the significance of the lyrics and the nuances of the melodies. Our younger choristers found it especially interesting to work with Dalia and to connect more closely to the composers’ melodies. At the end of the rehearsal, choir chair Joana Adamonytė thanked Dalia and presented a bottle of cognac, which Dalia immediately shared with everyone. The
evening ended not only with a song, but with smiles and laughter. Aleksandras was very pleased with the rehearsal and with Dalia’s visit.
